What do Lowlight Platform Moderators do, and how can I apply?
The scope of platform moderation, the 30 separate days needed before applying, and moderator onboarding.
Lowlight Platform Moderators are volunteers who help look after public spaces under Lowlight’s platform rules. They are separate from the moderators appointed by an individual community or server owner.
Moderators use only the tools and public-space permissions Lowlight has enabled for them. They act on clear platform-rule violations and escalate ambiguous situations or emergencies to staff. They must step away from cases where they have a personal or other conflict of interest.
Lowlight staff handles appeals, private matters and permanent enforcement. A Moderator badge does not grant access to private messages, ownership of a server or unrestricted enforcement powers. Local server rules do not become platform rules.
Before you apply
Use Lowlight while signed in on 30 separate days, verify an email address or phone number, and keep your account in good standing. The days do not need to be consecutive. There is no follower-count or posting requirement.
Staying signed in is fine. You do not need to log out and back in each day. Lowlight counts recorded activity on distinct calendar days in UTC; using several devices on the same day still counts as one day. An account that is 30 days old does not qualify just because time has passed.
Open Settings → Community Programs to see your active-day progress and apply when you meet the requirements. Applications are always open. Each program has a separate application and review. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
If an application is declined, check the date shown before applying again. That waiting period is separate from your lifetime total of active days; your total does not reset.
After acceptance
Complete the policy, training and security steps shown in Community Programs, including the moderation-session readiness check, before activation. This check confirms that the required moderation session setup is ready; acceptance alone does not enable moderation work.
Active members receive the Moderator badge, program Premium and private program community access where available. Actual tools still depend on the permissions Lowlight enables. Participation is optional, with no weekly activity quota, and members can pause when needed.
Lead Moderators help coordinate the program and support other Moderators within the same role boundaries. Lead status is assigned separately from Ambassador leadership.
