For Parents, Guardians, and Other Adults

Lowlight Inc. (“Lowlight,” “we” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of children. This Children’s Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and otherwise process the personal information of users under the age of 13 (“Children”) in a separate experience of our services in the United States (“Kids Mode”).

Kids Mode is designed for Children residing in the United States, allowing them to explore videos and creative features while limiting the information collected. For example, Children can watch or create short videos with music and effects. While videos may be saved locally to a Child’s device, they are not collected by us or visible to other users. Children also have limited interactive features (e.g., they cannot exchange direct messages with others, cannot have a public profile, etc.).

1. What Information We Collect from Children

When a Child registers for Lowlight in Kids Mode, we collect limited personal information, including:

  • Username and password
  • Birthday (to ensure the user is under 13)

We may also collect certain information automatically from the Child’s device, such as:

  • Device ID or IP address
  • Browser or app version
  • Approximate location (country-level)
  • App usage information (e.g., time spent in the app, videos watched)

If a Child contacts us for support or feedback (e.g., via in-app forms), we may collect the email address needed to respond.

2. How We Use Children’s Information

We use Children’s information to:

  • Provide and support our services (e.g., log-in authentication).
  • Perform analytics and troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide contextual (non-targeted) advertising, if any.
  • Protect the security and integrity of Children’s accounts and our services.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Children cannot publicly share personal information (including videos or profile information) in Kids Mode.

We do not engage in profiling Children that results in legal or similarly significant effects, as defined under applicable law.

3. How We Share Children’s Information

  • Service Providers: We share collected information with trusted service providers who assist in running Lowlight (e.g., hosting, security).
  • Corporate Group: We may share Children’s information within our corporate family.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose personal information if we must do so by law, or if disclosure is necessary to protect children, Lowlight, or the public.
  • No Sales or Targeted Ads: We do not sell Children’s information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Data Security and Retention

We take steps to protect Children’s information, but note that no internet transmission is completely secure.
We keep Children’s information only as long as we have a legitimate reason to do so (e.g., providing the service, meeting legal requirements).

Our servers or data centers may be located outside the United States, and our service providers may store or process Children’s information abroad.

5. Your Rights (Parents/Guardians)

A parent or guardian may:

  • Access or Delete their Child’s information.
  • Appeal any decision we’ve made about a request.

Please contact us at [email protected] to exercise these rights. We will respond in line with applicable laws and may require steps to verify the request.

6. Updates to This Children’s Privacy Policy

We may update this policy at times. When we do, we update the Last Updated date at the top or notify you in other ways required by law. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically to stay informed.
