🟢 My final thoughts of Halo: Campaign Evolved 🟢

👍 The Positives:

• Gorgeous Graphics

• Played very smoothly (for me)

• Significant improvements over both Halo: Combat Evolved (and CE Anniversary)

• Usable Fuel Rod

• The very final part of the Prequel Campaign (Rally Point Delta aka The Space Battle)

• The design/aesthetic differences in the Prequel Campaign

👎 The Negatives:
===============

• The switch from gameplay to cutscenes were sometimes quite jarring but this is minor

• Some of the re-recorded/changed voice lines just didn't fit as well as the original lines

• Most of the Prequel Campaign - There were some genuinely interesting plot points including the main plot which gets mostly ignored; focussing primarily instead on the rivalry and resentment of Spartans vs ODSTs which is an interesting thing to see as well but not as the main focus. The combat and enemy encounters got really repetitive and boring really fast

• While you can play Co-Op Campaign, the absence of online multiplayer is a massive downer. I can only assume this decision was made to not compete with and cannibalise the Halo Infinite playerbase but I genuinely have no idea how many people are playing Infinite's multiplayer

• The price... at £49.99, this feels about £10 too expensive for the experience, especially when you factor in that you can often pick up the entire Master Chief Collection for less than £10 for all 6 games

• The Premium Edition makes zero sense to buy post launch unless you really really really really value the skins included at the additional £20 price tag (that do not show in cutscenes). I hate the practice of locking advanced access behind a higher tier paywall such as premium/deluxe editions but that was the main reason to purchase pre-launch

🟢 The Conclusion:

If the game had just been the remade campaign with a slightly lower price tag (no prequel missions), I'd probably easily score it an 8/10 and honestly I preferred it over Halo 1 Anniversary (which I only played for the first time in 2021) BUT taking everything into account about Halo: Campaign Evolved, I wouldn't give it higher than a 6.5/10
