Light is Lowlight's in-app currency for collecting, trading, and building your inventory.

You can earn Light by using Lowlight, receiving special rewards, and selling items on the Marketplace. You can currently spend Light in the Marketplace to buy items from other users.

How to Get Light

Join Lowlight

New users currently receive a Welcome Light Drop when they create an account.

It gives you a starting amount of Light so you can begin exploring the Lowlight economy.

Use Lowlight

Light can appear as a reward while you spend time on Lowlight.

As you watch content and stay active, you may receive reward drops. Sometimes those drops contain items. Sometimes they include Light. Sometimes Light appears on its own.

Open Reward Drops

When you earn Light from a drop, you will see it during the reveal experience and it will be added to your balance.

These moments can happen through regular activity, special reward moments, and Light-focused drops.

Sell Items on the Marketplace

You can also earn Light by selling eligible items on the Lowlight Marketplace.

Pick an item from your inventory, set your price in Light, and list it. If another user buys it, you receive the sale proceeds in Light after the marketplace fee.

  • Standard users: 5% marketplace fee
  • Lowlight Premium users: 2% marketplace fee

For example, if you sell an item for 100.00 Light, a standard seller receives 95.00 Light. A Premium seller receives 98.00 Light.

Special Rewards and Grants

Lowlight may also award Light through special events, achievements, limited-time rewards, or platform grants.

When those rewards are active, the Light is added directly to your account.

Where to See Your Light

You can see your Light balance in your Vault.

Your Vault shows your current Light, total Light earned, and total Light spent. The Marketplace also shows your Light balance when you browse, buy, sell, or review your marketplace activity.

What You Can Use Light For Right Now

Buying Items

The main current use for Light is buying items on the Lowlight Marketplace.

Browse active listings, check the item details, confirm the Light price, and buy the item you want.

When the purchase is complete, the item moves into your inventory and the Light is deducted from your balance.

Building Your Collection

Light gives you more control over your collection.

You can use it to chase rare items, pick up items you missed, hunt Unique variants, or buy the exact piece you want instead of waiting for it to drop.

Trading With Other Players

Light also makes selling worthwhile.

If you have duplicates or items you no longer want, you can list them for Light and use what you earn toward your next pickup.

What Light Is Not Used For Yet

Light is not currently used to open Midnight Vault chests.

Right now, Midnight Vault chests use Dust. Light-based chest purchases are planned, and we will share final pricing and timing when that feature is ready.

A Few Things to Know

  • There is no upfront Light cost to create a Marketplace listing.
  • The buyer pays the listed Light price.
  • The Marketplace fee comes out of the seller's proceeds when an item sells.
  • Marketplace purchases are final, so always double-check the item and price before buying.

Why Light Matters

Light is what makes the Lowlight economy move.

You can earn it, save it, spend it, and trade with it. Whether you are collecting casually or trying to build a specific inventory, Light gives you more ways to shape your Lowlight account.
